The Budwig Ketogenic Diet Tips

Many people have asked us about the role of fruit sugar and carbohydrates in an anti-cancer diet...

So we initially decided to create an e-book addendum, explaining ketogenic (low carb) diets and how they can benefit from Dr. Budwig's core principles.

But since we got so many inquiries and not been able to finish the addendum we decided to offer personalized dietary guidelines combining the Budwig Diet with carbohydrates restrictions.

Q. [Via Facebook] would you please let me know more information about the Budwig/Ketogenic Diet or any other relevant information relating to the combination of these two diets. Thank you

A. Combining the concepts of Ketogenic diet and the Budwig diet involves a diet that is low in carbohydrates - mostly from green vegetables and maybe minute amounts of whole grains, moderate protein intake in the form of cottage cheese or cold processed whey protein as part of the Budwig Muesli, and high fat intake in the form of cold pressed seed oils at a omega 6 to 3 ratio of about 1 to 1, and coconut oil. This diet can be done every day or 2 to 3 days of the week. In general fruits and honey should be avoided and replaced with vegetables and stevia in modest amount.

Q. [Via Facebook] Would you tell me more about the Budwig/Ketogenic Diet?

A. A Budwig type low carb/ ketogenic diet would get most of its calories provided by flax and coconut oils. The moderate amount of protein would be from the cottage cheese, along with another non-starchy preferably organic protein of choice prepared in a non-carcinogenic way (i.e. grilling). You would prioritize non starchy vegetables for your carbohydrate source, and could also include 1-2 spoons of starch carbohydrates at the end of meal.

For women especially, he recommends carbohydrate restriction be intermittent, rather than constant.

If you would like more guidance, I can arrange a dietary workup for you with Dr. Gene. He breaks down this dietary approach for his patients in great detail.
